The Digital Design pathway prepares students for careers in graphic design, digital media, and visual communications. Students develop creative and technical skills using industry-standard software to produce digital graphics, illustrations, photography, video, web content, and print media while building a professional portfolio.
Foundations of Digital Design (Level 1) Students learn the fundamentals of graphic design, visual communication, typography, digital imaging, and design principles. Using Adobe Photoshop, they create original digital projects while building foundational technical and creative skills.
Processes of Digital Production (Level 2) Students expand their design skills by creating digital graphics, illustrations, photography, and multimedia projects using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The course emphasizes creativity, project management, and professional design workflows.
Applications of Digital Design (Level 3) Students apply advanced design techniques to create professional-quality print, web, video, and multimedia projects using Adobe Creative Cloud. The course focuses on portfolio development, client-based projects, and career readiness in the digital media industry.
Work-Based Learning (Level 4)
Students participate in real-world learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to careers in graphic design, digital media, photography, videography, marketing, and communications. Through job shadowing, workplace visits, mentorships, industry guest speakers, career preparation activities, client-based projects, and an internship, students gain firsthand experience with professional design processes, digital production, project management, and workplace expectations. Work-based learning helps students strengthen creative, technical, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while expanding their professional portfolios and preparing for Adobe certifications, postsecondary education, and future careers in digital communications.
Technology Student Association (TSA)
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that prepares students for leadership and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through leadership opportunities, community service, hands-on projects, and technology-related competitive events, students build technical knowledge, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and career-ready skills while connecting classroom learning to real-world STEM fields. Students may participate in state and national conferences and competitions while developing the skills and confidence needed for future success in college, the workforce, and technology-related careers.
